Market Overview
The European Union's Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive (2002/95/EC) and the trend for in-situ analyses boosted the demand for XRF handheld analyzers. The latest generation of XRF handheld analyzers features better detection limits, shorter measurement times and increased productivity. This implies very small, reliable and highly stable X-Ray sources either in standard configuration or in customized packaging.

Also XRF benchtop manufacturers identified the advantages of a small and flexible X-ray source and started to integrate them rather than having the headache of tube, cable and generator.

What our customers want
High reliability, high X-ray dose stability, short sample times, no down times and a wide range of different tube spectrums (Ag, W, Rh, Mo etc) are the key criteria for X-ray fluorescence analyses.

Our offer
COMET offers the EDiX line of miniature X-Ray Sources. EDiX products are optimized for use in the latest generation of battery-operated handheld XRF instruments or XRF Benchtop analyzers. The modules are available in several configurations and consist of a miniature X-Ray tube and a generator.

Technology outlook
Customized monoblock solutions with easier maintenance, stepping up to higher kV to shorten the sample times and more X-Ray flux in lower kV range to improve the detections limits of light elements are the key success factors for the future.
